Surprisingly, there are no strict limits on how much luggage a traveler is allowed to bring on a Russian train. But in order for passengers not to get carried away, below are some recommendations regarding luggage allowance per one travel ticket:
- briefcases, handbags, photo cameras, umbrellas, skis and sticks, fishing rods and other small items, the sum of the dimensions (width, height, length) should not exceed 100 cm;
- carry-on luggage of no more than 36 kg (in sleeping coaches with double compartments - of no more than 50 kg), the sum of the dimensions (width, height, length) should not exceed 180 cm.
Note: Carry-on luggage regulations do not apply to infant tickets (issued free of charge for children up to 5 years of age who do not occupy a separate seat/bed)
Each train station has scales for weighing carry-on luggage.
